Saturn uses his power to get Bonney away, Sanji tries to confront him but is also hit by his mysterious ability. Kizaru and Luffy lie exhausted on the ground, Saturn tries to finish Luffy off, but Franky manages to push him away in time. Saturn grabs Bonney and explains that his father was always a slave being a survivor of the Buccaneer tribe. Bonney recalls how his father used to tell her that he always wanted to be a hero like Nika, someone who would free people from their suffering. We go back in time to see how Kuma's family tried to hide their origins, but they were discovered anyway and ended up as slaves. Kuma's mother eventually died and his father would try to encourage him to keep living by telling him stories about Nika, but a Tenryuubito would kill him too for causing too much of a ruckus. Years later, a macabre game would take place in God Valley, the locals and some slaves prepared for the occasion would be exterminated by the Tenryuubitos. On the other hand, some slaves are sent by the government to neutralize Kuma as he tries to escape. Just when they find him, Ivankov appears to remind him that there are still reasons to live.
